New Hotels in Milwaukee and Green Bay Receive AAA Four Diamond Ratings
MADISON, Wisc., (January 31, 2018) – Wisconsin is home to a dozen of AAA’s highest rated hotels in North America, with new additions in Milwaukee (The Westin Milwaukee) and Green Bay (LODGE KOHLER) receiving AAA Four Diamond Ratings. If you are like many travelers, you probably check ratings and reviews on a hotel before you reserve a room. While there are many rating sites to choose from, AAA’s is the most respected in the hospitality industry.
For more than 80 years, AAA has sent professional inspectors to hotels and restaurants across the U.S., Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean. Properties are rated on a scale of one to five Diamonds, based on a variety of guidelines for cleanliness, comfort and hospitality. Today, AAA announced this year’s list of hotels and resorts that earned the coveted Four and Five Diamond designations.
“Diamond ratings are an invaluable resource to both travelers and business owners,” said Vicky Evans, Assistant Vice President, Travel Sales Development, AAA – The Auto Club Group. “Since annual inspections are unannounced, our inspectors get the truest representation of the traveler experience at each property. Our feedback allows hotel managers to make improvements, and travelers to make a decision based on our unbiased review.”

Four Diamond Hotels
A total of 1,676 hotels received the Four Diamond Rating. Two recently opened hotels in Wisconsin were added to the list this year: LODGE KOHLER in Green Bay and the Westin Milwaukee.
Only a few steps from Lambeau Field and the premiere hotel in Green Bay’s Titletown district, LODGE KOHLER is a distinctive hotel where the grit of sport and industry, meets bold design. The hotel offers a wide variety of luxurious amenities including Kohler Waters Spa. The top-floor restaurant and bar provides an upscale dining experience and outstanding views of the stadium.
The Westin Milwaukee is close to the city's top local attractions, including the historic Third Ward. It boasts a chic, expansive lobby that features breathtaking artwork and plush seating as well as an exceptional on-site restaurant and views of Lake Michigan.
Five Diamond Hotels
A total of 121 hotels throughout the U.S., Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean received the AAA Five Diamond Rating. Only one of those is in Wisconsin: the American Club in Kohler. The property has held that distinction since it opened as a luxury resort in the 1980’s. The building that the hotel occupies, originally build for immigrant workers at the Kohler Company, celebrates its centennial in 2018.

To be AAA Approved:
- Properties must pass an unannounced, on-site evaluation. Hotels must provide acceptable cleanliness, comfort and hospitality; and restaurants must meet requirements for cleanliness, food preparation and service.
- During on-site evaluations, inspectors check everything including lobby décor and guestroom bedding at hotels, to food presentation and service attributes at restaurants.
- Inspectors follow AAA’s comprehensive, published Approval Requirements & Diamond Rating Guidelines for Hotels and Restaurants, which are periodically updated to reflect current member priorities and industry trends.
- After an establishment is “Approved”, the AAA inspector reviews an extensive list of attributes to determine the appropriate rating level, on a scale of One to Five Diamonds, based on the extensiveness of services, facilities and amenities.
